Band Update (10/6/15) & Note from Mr. Emmons

Thanks and Appreciation for all of the amazing work that our Band Parents have done over these past several weeks. It was amazing to have all of the help and assistance with the Grand Junction trip from loading to unloading for rehearsals to loading again to feeding everyone multiple times to chaperoning to supervising to assisting with performance to cheering and supporting each student on that trip. The parents made the Pomona Festival look easy for both performances throughout a very long day and took care of everything so amazingly well with inclement weather rolling in. It is so comforting as a Director to know that our students are being taken care of so well by our band parents.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!  ~ Don Emmons

Reminders This Week

-The Thursday band rehearsal this week has been moved to Wednesday, Oct 7th, 6:00-8:00 pm. This rehearsal will now be an evening showcase event featuring the LHS and HHS Marching Bands this year. (AHS is unable to participate on this date.) The event is open to everyone who would like to come out and support the Marching Band programs at LHS and HHS.....and it is a FREE event!!

-The Legend Marching Festival is this Saturday, Oct. 10th. We still need at least 15 more volunteers to help with the afternoon show! If the band makes finals, we will need help in the evening, too. Please sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0a4fa4a92ca57-20158

Looking Ahead

-Monday, October 12th is an evening band rehearsal, 6-9pm and will also be Band Parent Night. This is the last rehearsal before Regionals and Mr. Emmons would love to have all of our parents there to support the band at the final performance run-through at 8:20pm. Immediately following this (at approximately 8:40pm), the band will invite the parents onto the field to experience what it is like to march in formation. Please plan on attending to cheer on the band and have some fun on the field!

-Regional 4A Competition is next Tuesday, Oct 13th at the Sports Authority Stadium in Parker. The band is scheduled to perform at 7:45 pm. Please look for a Signup Genius later today or early tomorrow to sign up to help with this competition.

-Help!!! The CBA Regional 5A Marching Band Event is only 9 days away on Thursday, Oct.15th and we still need many more volunteers! There is no school for LPS students that day and many of the band students will also be working at this event. -The Home Football Game on Friday, October 16th, is a Pep Band Only game (students perform in the stands and no half-time show on the field). Since there is no school in LPS that day, many of our students will not be here due to college visits, mini-vacations and such. Mr. Emmons will have a signup for all students that wish to participate in the Pep Band for this game. The only parent volunteers needed will be to set up stadium seating.
