Saturday, Dec 3rd - Festival of Lights Parade in Colorado Springs
As you may have heard from your student(s), we received late word that the band was going to be able to march in the Festival of Lights Parade on Saturday, December 3rd. The students were very excited to once again have the opportunity to march in this fun parade!
Call time for the students is 12:30pm at LHS. Students will get their uniforms on at this time in order to do a final fitting of our lighted parade outfits. We will then get on buses and depart by 2:00pm to travel to Fargo's Pizza in Colorado Springs. We will stop at Fargo's Pizza for lunch/dinner from 2-4:00pm. (Please note that students will need to bring money for this meal.) We will then transfer over to the Palmer High School Auxiliary Gym on N Nevada Ave. between E Boulder and E St. Vrain. The buses and cars with parents and other supplies will stop here to allow the students to change into their band uniforms/performance outfits and get their instruments ready to go. When the band is completely ready, the buses will travel to the end of the parade route and park on E Vermijo Ave. between S Tejon and S Nevada Ave. to wait for the band to finish the parade.
The Parade begins at 5:50pm and should begin performing on the street by 7:00pm and finish the parade by 7:45pm. We will then load the buses and travel back to LHS where we should arrive between 9:15-9:30pm.
Please see the following Information Sheet for additional info and a map of the parade:

For this parade, parents of Senior band members will have priority walking as volunteers with the band since this will be the Senior's last parade. (Lynn Wells will be organizing this. If you are a senior parent and would like to help, please let Lynn know by emailing her at lewells123@gmail.com. We will need approximately 12 volunteers.) All Band parents are welcome to join us in Colorado Springs at Fargo's Pizza and are highly encouraged to watch the parade which travels South on Tejon Ave. from E St. Vrain down to E Vermijo Ave. Like the Western Welcome Week and State Fair Parades, this is a one-way parade in which any parents with cars will need to figure out where to park in order to either march with the band or to watch the parade and get back to their car afterwards. We do have room for 10-12 parents to ride the buses for this event. Please let Mr. Emmons know if you'd like to ride the bus.
