Western Welcome Week Parade

Saturday, August 18^th, 2012    10:00am.

All members of the Littleton High School “Lion Pride” Marching Band and Colorguard need to be at the parade site line-up on Gallup St. [see map below]      no later than 8:45am on Saturday morning dressed in full uniform with their instrument, ready to perform.  We will meet at Sgt. Peppers photography studio on Gallup St.  There is no vehicle parking in this area.  You will need to be dropped off and arrange to be picked-up at the end of the parade at the parking lot of ACC on the corner of Church and Rapp streets. 

You may take your uniform and instrument home on Friday night and meet us at the parade on Saturday morning.  You may also come to LHS to change and/or pick-up your instrument/uniform between 7:45am and 8:10am on Saturday morning. 

The parade steps off at 10am and we will conclude our portion of the parade at ACC around 11:20 – 11:30am.

Dear LHS Band Parents,

We are looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming events/performances this week (August 18 - 25).
We have the Western Welcome Week parade tomorrow, Sat. Aug. 18th and I look forward to seeing our students dressed in their complete uniforms tomorrow morning at 8:45am in front of Sgt. Pepper's Photography studio on Gallup St. (this is just south of Littleton Blvd.).
The parade begins at 10am at Gallup and Littleton Blvd., proceeds west down Littleton Blvd. towards the Melting Pot Restaurant and finishes at the northwest parking lot of Arapahoe Community College (ACC).  Our portion of the parade usually finishes around 11:20am when the students are released to meet you or go home through other arrangements that you have made.  Students are responsible for getting their own instruments to and from the parade as well as arriving dressed in their full band uniform.  Students are also responsible to take care of their instruments and uniforms after the parade.  I will be at Littleton High School on Saturday morning between 7:45am and 8:15am if anyone needs to come by the school to pick anything up.  I will also be at the school after the parade between 11:40am and 12:20pm if anyone wants to bring anything back to the school that day.  Otherwise, we will need all instruments back on Monday morning for rehearsal that day and all uniforms back by the Tuesday evening rehearsal.  Please see  flier for more details.

This week we have two evening rehearsals scheduled, the first on Tuesday, August 21st from 6 - 9pm.  The second evening rehearsal originally scheduled for Wednesday, August 22nd has been moved due to an athletic conflict to Thursday, August 23rd from 6 - 9pm.  These evening rehearsals are critical due to our performances at the Home Football game on Friday evening and the Colorado State Fair Parade on Saturday.  Again, the Wednesday evening rehearsal has been changed to Thursday, August 23rd from 6 - 9pm.

Lost item at Bow Mar

Thank you for such a great band camp experience and picnic on Tuesday.  Our family really enjoyed it.  

Only one snafu, Kristin lost a silver necklace with a pendant of St. Elizabeth near the picnic tables close to the parking lot.  Did anyone happened to find it and pick it up?

"Dear Littleton H.S. Band Parents,

 

I would like to truly thank you for all of your support of the LHS Band program these past two weeks.  Thank you for supporting your student(s) participating fully in our August Band camp.  We accomplished a great deal and are well on our way towards producing memorable performances. 

 

In particular, thank you to all of you who were able to host students from Takayama, Japan.  Hopefully it was as memorable for your family as it was for the Takayama students.  In speaking with the two directors from Takayama, they remarked on Monday morning how exceptional you all were in hosting their students.  They are truly impressed with how well you treated their students and included them in all of your activities throughout the weekend.  They are certainly returning to Japan with lasting memories.  Thank you again to Wendy and Greg Cogdal for opening their home for our Farewell Party.  The setting was ideal, the food was wonderful, and the hosting by Wendy and Greg helped to make for a wonderful evening together.

 

I was very pleased to see that so many of you were able to join us at our End-of-Band-Camp Celebration at Bow Mar on Tuesday.  Huge Thank-You's to Susu Baker for coordinating and organizing this event for all of us to enjoy.  And special thanks to all the band parents who freely offered their assistance with set-up, cooking and clean-up.  It is a pleasure to spend time with you and your students. 

 

As we look forward towards our upcoming events, we do need to plan for the State Fair performance at the Band Shell in the Fairgrounds.  All of the Band and Colorguard members will be admitted into the Fairgrounds for free.  We will need to purchase tickets for any band parents who are planning on going, so I need to know how many tickets to purchase.  Please respond to this email with your intention to attend the State Fair event. 

 

I need a count for our Band parents for the State Fair by this Friday afternoon.

A few corrections on the band apparel order form!

Sorry, I copied the form from last year and did not edit it thoroughly.  The due date on the form says Aug. 13th, but it should be Aug. 17th.  Also, there is no show shirt yet.
