Band Update (9/8/15)

Reminders

-Our first Chick-fil-A fundraiser of the Fall 2015 Marching Band season is tomorrow! 
When: Wednesday, September 9th from 5:30–7:30 pm
Where:  Southglenn Chick-fil-A located at 6907 S. University Blvd, Centennial.
Why:  Because Chick-fil-A is yummy…and 10% of all proceeds from the two-hour period will go to support our marching band! (We typically raise $300 or more at each Chick-fil-A night!)
More info: You can dine in, drive thru, or carry out and they will even count food tray purchases. -A Home Football Game half-time performance will take place on Thursday, September 11th at 7:00 pm.  Please sign up to help the band have an awesome show. -Friendship Cup Clinic/Competition is Saturday, September 12th at the Englewood High School Stadium. Information about this event can be found at the following link:

-Water donations are still needed!! Donations of Arrowhead Sport Top Water Bottles are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off in the band room. We have used almost our entire supply already and will need many more for the upcoming competitions. Thanks!

Looking Ahead

-There will be a Band Parent Meeting on Tuesday, September, 15th in the band room from 7:00-8:00 pm. Please plan on attending as Mr. Emmons will be providing important information about many of the upcoming events for Marching Band.

-Homecoming Festivities are next week. The band will be playing for the bonfire (in the stadium parking lot at LHS) on Thursday, September, 17th from 6:00-8:00 pm. They will also be performing at the Homecoming Pep Assembly on Friday morning, a Homecoming Parade after school (same route as Western Welcome Week but no parent volunteers needed), and the Homecoming Football Game on Friday night, September 18th at 7:00 pm. Please note that there are no other band activities scheduled on Saturday so that the students can attend the Homecoming Dance that evening. A Signup Genius for the football game will be going out tomorrow.

-The Grand Junction trip (Colorado West Marching Band Festival) is less than a month away! (September 25-26) We will also need many volunteers to help the band with both the parade Saturday morning & field show Saturday afternoon in Grand Junction, so please consider coming along. Volunteers staying in the band’s hotel (Grand Junction Doubletree) but not riding the bus can stay for a small payment of only $75. Please let Mr. Emmons know if you want a room so that he can get you on the list. More information will be communicated soon regarding specific performance times, but a Signup Genius has been created for volunteers needed to help the band at this festival. -Band Apparel for volunteers - We have had several parents ask where they can get a LHS Lion Pride Marching Band shirt. While we no longer have a supply available to buy, our Marching Band logo has been provided to PROformance Apparel on Broadway & Ridge Road. All you need to do is buy yourself a black shirt and take it to PROformance Apparel. For $5 they will embroider our logo on the shirt.

-Europe trip contracts/down payments were due Friday, Sept. 4th. If your student or family members are planning on going on this trip and have not yet turned in the down payment, please see Mr. Emmons right away.
