LHS LionPride Marching Band Weekly update Sept. 4

Thank you so much to each of our band parent Moms who came and helped with pinning on the red sashes to our uniforms this past week.  They look terrific and it was very impressive with how many you got done in one night.  Huge thanks as well to Mike Sheppard to spear-heading our sound system set-up and for Danny Aguilar's assistance with this project.  Congratulations again to our Band for their exceptional performance at the Colorado State Fair Parade in Pueblo last weekend.  Out of 24 competing Marching Bands, your "Pride of Littleton" Marching Band finished 2nd in the 4A Division and 2nd in the Overall Sweepstakes!!!

For the week of September 5th:

We have a Band Parent meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 5th at 7pm in the Band Room.  We will be discussing our upcoming Marching Band Competitions, some final work projects that need to be accomplished as well as making final plans for the CBA Metro 5A event that we are hosting here at the LPS Stadium on Tuesday, October 17th.

We also have parent work nights scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 5:30pm - 7pm (then everyone can go to the Band Parent Meeting) and Wed. Sept. 6 from 5:30pm - 8:30pm.  We need as many of you to bring an iron as possible, one that has a steam setting.  Also, some ironing boards and extra scissors for trimming fabric would be much appreciated.  If you are able to bring a sewing machine, we have Velcro that needs to be sewn onto the fabric as well.  We will be meeting in the band room.  If you have specific questions, please call Nikki Sheeran at 303-591-3202.

The Marching Band has NO evening rehearsals or Saturday commitment this week.  We do have our 2nd Home Football Game on Thursday, Sept. 7th.  Call Time is 5:30pm and we plan on performing Movements 1 and 2 of our show that evening.

Volunteers needed for football game Sept. 1st.

Hello Parents and Family members:

Are you ready for some Football?!?!?!?!?

Littleton High School has their first football game on Friday September 1!  The Lion Pride Marching Band is putting on their first field show that night and they need your help!  To be successful, we need to have 22 parents there to help move the pit percussion and other field equipment. The game starts at 7:00.  I would like to have the volunteers there by 6:30.  If you can be there earlier, that would be great.  Plan on meeting us in the band room unless you hear otherwise.
Please sign up to volunteer here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4fa4ad22a31-lhshome  I hope to see you there!

As volunteers, we ask you to where a black shirt and black pants/shorts. We try to blend in, because we don't want to take away from the band.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email me.

LHS Band Parents and Families,

Our LHS Band students have a full week of rehearsals and Performances this coming week.  Please make note of the following:

Thursday, August 31st - Full Evening Rehearsal from 6pm - 9pm in the Stadium

Friday, September 1st - Home Football Game
The LHS Band performs the National Anthem and Fight Song on the Field before the Game.  The Band plays in the stands during the 1st, 2nd and 4th Quarters.  The Band performs the First Movement of our Show "Shades of a Rose" during Half-time.  And the Band performs on the Track at the end of the Game.  Band students are usually done and ready to go home around 9:15 - 9:30pm.

Saturday, September 2nd - OPTIONAL Band Day National Anthem Opportunity at the Colorado Rockies Baseball Game [3pm - 9pm]
Students MUST see Mr. Emmons if they wish to play at this event.

This is our BUSIEST week of the year for rehearsals and performances.  Please plan ahead for this week and know that this will not happen again throughout the school year.

Band Parent Message

Dear LHS "Pride of Littleton" Marching Band Families,

Thank You so much for your time, energies, work, support and committment on behalf of your LHS Band and Colorguard students at the Colorado State Fair this past Saturday.  Our Band students had an Exceptional Day due in large part to your assistance and active support.

I especially want to recognize the parents who helped to transport all of our equipment to Pueblo and back.  Brian & Catina Letton and Jim & Lisa Reibling were extremely gracious to provide trailers for the day which really facilitated this.  Thank you also to Candice & Tim Currie and others who provided their pick-up truck and other large vehicles to carry the rest of our equipment necessary for our performance that afternoon as well.

Please join me in offering a HUGE Thank You to Martha McCannon and Becky Stouder for their work in coordinating our morning breakfast for everyone.  Thank you to each of you who assisted and provided food for the Band that morning.  Whate a great way to start our morning and to have everyone well-fueled for the parade.

Thank you Sandie Steffes for organizing our Parade volunteers who marched with us during the parade.  I appreciate every volunteer who was there to take care of our students and to enable them to perform their best that morning.

Thank you to every band parent who made the trip to Pueblo with us on Saturday.  The entire Band is very grateful for your support and enthusiasm.  Thank you to Sara Murray and Misty Fritz for riding the buses with our students that day.

As I hope all of you are aware, 22 Bands were in Competition at the Colorado State Fair Parade on Saturday and your LHS "Pride of Littleton" Marching Band placed 2nd in Class 4A and 2nd in the Overall Sweepstakes!!  As I told the students on Saturday evening, I am Ridiculously Proud of them, their work, effort and Ensemble Performance.

Thank you All Again!!

Sincerely,

Don Emmons, Instrumental Music Director
