Volunteers needed for football game Sept. 1st.

Hello Parents and Family members:

Are you ready for some Football?!?!?!?!?

Littleton High School has their first football game on Friday September 1!  The Lion Pride Marching Band is putting on their first field show that night and they need your help!  To be successful, we need to have 22 parents there to help move the pit percussion and other field equipment. The game starts at 7:00.  I would like to have the volunteers there by 6:30.  If you can be there earlier, that would be great.  Plan on meeting us in the band room unless you hear otherwise.
Please sign up to volunteer here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4fa4ad22a31-lhshome  I hope to see you there!

As volunteers, we ask you to where a black shirt and black pants/shorts. We try to blend in, because we don't want to take away from the band.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email me.

LHS Band Parents and Families,

Our LHS Band students have a full week of rehearsals and Performances this coming week.  Please make note of the following:

Monday and Tuesday morning, during our regular day-time class period rehearsal, we will begin our SnapRaise Online Fundraiser.  We are requesting that ALL of our Band students bring their Chromebook or personal laptop and their cell phone to class both of these mornings.

Call time for all Band students is 6pm.  We will set-up everything out in front of Littleton High School and perform in Full Uniform at the end of the ENCORE BBQ Dinner from 6:40pm - 6:50pm.  This is a Stand-Still performance, just like we did at the Band Shell at the State Fair on Saturday.  Students are allowed to leave when we finish just before 7pm IF they are not involved in other groups (like the Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Choirs or Drama sketches) performing in the Collage Concert that begins at 7pm in the Theater.  Everyone is invited to the Collage Concert in the Theater at 7pm and admission is FREE.

Thursday, August 31st - Full Evening Rehearsal from 6pm - 9pm in the Stadium

Friday, September 1st - Home Football Game
The LHS Band performs the National Anthem and Fight Song on the Field before the Game.  The Band plays in the stands during the 1st, 2nd and 4th Quarters.  The Band performs the First Movement of our Show "Shades of a Rose" during Half-time.  And the Band performs on the Track at the end of the Game.  Band students are usually done and ready to go home around 9:15 - 9:30pm.

Saturday, September 2nd - OPTIONAL Band Day National Anthem Opportunity at the Colorado Rockies Baseball Game [3pm - 9pm]
Students MUST see Mr. Emmons if they wish to play at this event.

This is our BUSIEST week of the year for rehearsals and performances.  Please plan ahead for this week and know that this will not happen again throughout the school year.

Thank you so much for your support.

Band Parent Message

Dear LHS "Pride of Littleton" Marching Band Families,

Thank You so much for your time, energies, work, support and committment on behalf of your LHS Band and Colorguard students at the Colorado State Fair this past Saturday.  Our Band students had an Exceptional Day due in large part to your assistance and active support.

I especially want to recognize the parents who helped to transport all of our equipment to Pueblo and back.  Brian & Catina Letton and Jim & Lisa Reibling were extremely gracious to provide trailers for the day which really facilitated this.  Thank you also to Candice & Tim Currie and others who provided their pick-up truck and other large vehicles to carry the rest of our equipment necessary for our performance that afternoon as well.

Please join me in offering a HUGE Thank You to Martha McCannon and Becky Stouder for their work in coordinating our morning breakfast for everyone.  Thank you to each of you who assisted and provided food for the Band that morning.  Whate a great way to start our morning and to have everyone well-fueled for the parade.

Thank you Sandie Steffes for organizing our Parade volunteers who marched with us during the parade.  I appreciate every volunteer who was there to take care of our students and to enable them to perform their best that morning.

Thank you to every band parent who made the trip to Pueblo with us on Saturday.  The entire Band is very grateful for your support and enthusiasm.  Thank you to Sara Murray and Misty Fritz for riding the buses with our students that day.

As I hope all of you are aware, 22 Bands were in Competition at the Colorado State Fair Parade on Saturday and your LHS "Pride of Littleton" Marching Band placed 2nd in Class 4A and 2nd in the Overall Sweepstakes!!  As I told the students on Saturday evening, I am Ridiculously Proud of them, their work, effort and Ensemble Performance.

Thank you All Again!!

Sincerely,

Don Emmons, Instrumental Music Director

Updates and Colorado State Fair information

Dear LHS Marching Band Families,

Thank you for all of your wonderful support this past week at our various events.  Thank you especially to Sandie Steffes and her crew of volunteers who were there to assist the "Lion Pride" Band at the Western Welcome Week Parade.  I really appreciated the Sacco's, Reibling's, Murray's and several others who willingly brought vehicle's and trailers to help transport our equipment to the parade and back again.

I am extremely pleased with the Band's first major performance in front of the audience at the Western Welcome Week Parade.  We received very positive feedback from many different people at the parade and I felt that our students performed well throughout the entire parade.

For this upcoming week, please make note of the following details:

1.  Monday, August 21st - Evening Rehearsal from 6pm - 9pm.  We would like to start this rehearsal at 6pm on the field.

2.  Saturday, August 26th - Colorado State Fair Parade in Pueblo, CO.  Call time is 5:50am at LHS.  Students will load their uniform and instruments at that time and the buses will leave at 6:10am.  We have room on the buses for parents who would like to ride the buses with us that day.  There are also maps and directions available here.  We plan to return to LHS at 9:30pm that day.  Please contact Mr. Emmons with any questions or concerns.
We are looking for parent volunteers to assist on this day. Please see the sign-up genius http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080b4da9a923a1fa7-colorado and consider helping!

3.  For the week of August 28th, we have evening rehearsals scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 29th and Thursday, August 31st from 6pm - 9pm each evening.

4.  The Collage Concert for the LHS Instrumental Performing Arts Department is on Wednesday, August 30th.  ENCORE (the LHS Performing Arts Booster Organization) is having a BBQ Dinner from 5pm - 6:30pm.  Then the LHS "Lion Pride" Marching Band will perform outside in front of the school at 6:30pm.  The Collage Concert will then begin at 7:00pm inside the LHS Theater.  Call time for the Marching Band students is 6pm and they are permitted to leave after our performance ends before 7pm.  For students who are in other LHS Performing Arts Ensembles (Choir, Theater, Orchestra or Jazz Ensemble), they will need to change and stay for the rest of the concert.  [I sincerely apologize for NOT having this date on the Calendar.]

5.  Friday, September 1st  -  This is the date of our first Home Football Game.  Call Time is 5:30pm.  We will perform the National Anthem before the game, in the stands during the game, on the field during half-time, and after the game on the track.  We thoroughly enjoy all of the support and enthusiastic cheering that our Band Parents provide at the game.

6.  We will begin our SNAP-Raise, online fundraiser for the Marching Band on Monday, August 28th.  We are asking that ALL our students participate to help us meet our financial needs and goals for this season.  You will receive more information later regarding this online fundraiser.  Thank you in advance for your help and support.

7.  Our next Band Parent Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5th from 7pm - 8pm.  I know that many of you will be there helping us with our Shako covers, so we can hopefully accomplish two things at once that evening.

Thank you again for your consistent help and support.  I look forward to seeing you at our various events, performances and activities.

Sincerely,
