Dear LHS "Lion Pride" Band Parents

"Dear LHS "Lion Pride" Band Parents,

As I write this at 5:00am on Saturday morning, I know where most of your students are, here with me at LHS having an active and very fun lock-in.  I have just finished reading the wonderful card that you all signed for me as well as all of the very nice thoughts the students wrote on the framed picture collage (with an exceptionally beautiful frame I might add).  I am truly humbled and very grateful that I have the opportunity to work with such wonderful, beautiful, kind and gracious people.  I am so very thankful that this activity brings out the best in both our band students and our band parents.  The thoughts you expressed in the card as well as at the Band Banquet last night are inspirational and a blessing to me.  The picture frame and montage of band photos are already hung in prominence in my office to constantly remind me of how special this season and this group of people has been.  I am also deeply humbled by your exceptionally generous gift.  You have made me feel honored and blessed to work with you and your children.  Thank you for your trust as well as your work and efforts to care deeply for them this year.  I look forward to seeing you at our concerts and other special music events the rest of this school year.

I love you all,

Don Emmons, Instrumental Music Director
"Lion Pride" Marching Band Director

Band Banquet THIS FRIDAY!

Hi parents,
Ok, it's not quite over yet! .....  please join us for the marching band banquet this Friday evening!! Dinner, awards, slide show and celebration of a spectacular marching band season. See invite below. Angel Harris and I could use some help setting-up and cleaning-up after the event. Everything (dinner and awards) will be held in the Cafeteria this year because the Theater is booked that night for another event.  So, Don and helpers will be setting up a stage area to use that night, and we'll need a committee of parents to set-up the awards table/area. Please go to the Sign Up Genius page, www.SignUpGenius.com/go/banquet43, one last time if you can lend a hand.....  thank you!
Feel free to email me with any questions, suggestions, etc.  See you there!

CBA Quarterfinals Friday November 2 and CBA Semifinals and Finals Saturday November 3rd

Friday, Nov. 2nd, our performance time at the CBA Quarterfinal event is 11:30am at the U.S. Air Force Academy just north of Colorado Springs.  Call time for the band students is 7:20am in the Band room (which is simply the start of school on that Friday morning).  We will have a brief rehearsal at the school and then plan on leaving LHS at 9:00am.  We will need parents to help us load the truck at 8:30am.
Parents are welcome to ride the bus down with the students or they are encouraged to carpool as there is a charge for parking at the U.S. Air Force Academy Stadium.
The Awards Ceremony is at 12:45 that afternoon and that will determine all of time-frames for Saturday morning and the Semi-Finals Competition.
All buses, equipment vehicles, spectator cars, etc. need to enter the Air Force Academy through the north gate only. This gate is accessed by taking exit 156B off of I 25. If you try to enter via the south gate at Academy Blvd you will be re-routed to the north gate. All buses and equipment vehicles will go through a security inspection prior to entering Lot 5 at the stadium.
Drivers of any vehicle entering the Academy may be asked to produce a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
The spectator entrance will be through gate 3 on the south side of the stadium. This will be the only gate for spectators to enter and exit. The spectator parking lots 2A, 2 and 3 are the closest to the stadium entrance (gate 3 on the south side of the stadium). Handicapped and disabled parking is available in Lot 3.
The ticket booth will be located near gate 3 (south side of the stadium). Tickets may be purchased with cash, checks (payable to CBA) or credit cards.
