For those of you who aren't familiar with student Encore accounts and how they work, I've added information to the new Marching Band website. Also included is info on King Soopers and Safeway reloadable cards. Lastly, I will be mailing personal codes soon to current band parents so you can check your Band fee balances and student Encore balances online.

A FEW IMPORTANT REMINDERS!

Littleton High School Lion Pride Marching Band
A FEW IMPORTANT REMINDERS!
First, thanks to those of you who have already subscribed to the new email list. If you have not done so, please follow instructions at the bottom of this email. We are paying $20 a month to use the current email system, whereas the new one is free. The sooner we can transition everyone, the more funds we will have available for our band program. Also, a few of you did subscribe, but have not checked your email, and clicked on the verification link it included. If you don't get this email twice, you are not verified on the new list.

Second, for those of you who have King Soopers cards as funding for your students' accounts, remember that they cannot have a $0 balance for more than 60 days, or they become inactive and you can no longer get credit for reloads.

Lastly, Band Payment #2 is due this week. If you need to know what your student still owes, please contact Jenni Wainner at lhsencoretreasurer@gmail.com

Littleton High School Lion Pride Marching Band

"Dear LHS Band Parents,

As many of you know from our last Band parent meeting, we have the opportunity and privilege of hosting a group of students coming from Japan to Denver/Littleton this August. The students will arrive to LHS on Friday afternoon, August 10th and will depart on Monday morning, August 13th. Students would therefore be housed in your home on Friday evening August 10 through Monday morning August 13th. Some preliminary plans for the weekend include having all of the host students and their host families joining us at Sterne's Park on Friday evening to watch the LHS Drumline perform in a LPS District Drum-off with the drumlines from Arapahoe and Heritage High Schools. Then on Saturday, we would get together at the Park by Pirates Cove for a picnic, some games and creek-walking. On Sunday, we will have a farewell party get-together and the students would leave from LHS at the beginning of our Band camp rehearsal on Monday morning.

If you choose to host, you will need to provide your Japanese students breakfast each morning as well as lunch each day, dinners will be taken care of through our different events during the weekend.

These students are joining us as they are here to experience our culture here in the United States. They have a strong desire to practice their English skills in a live American setting and they want to meet high school students in America and see what it is that you experience here in American public schools.

The Littleton High School band program was selected to host these students because of our relationship with Takayama Japan as well as the very positive experience that we had hosting students from Takayama in 2007.

We have a need of 13 families to host students. Here is the list that I was sent:

1. SGL - Male / 16 (High school - 1st.)
2. SGL - Female / 17 (High school - 2nd.)
3. DBL - Female / 13 & 15 (Junior High - 2nd. & 3rd.)
4. DBL - Male / 13 & 13 (Junior High - 1st.)
5. DBL - Female / 13 & 14 (Junior High - 1st. & 2nd.)
6. DBL - Female / 13 & 14 (Junior High - 2nd.)
7. DBL - Female / 13 & 13 (Junior High - 2nd.)
8. DBL - Female / 13 & 14 (Junior High - 2nd.)
9. DBL - Female / 13 & 15 (Junior High - 2nd. & 3rd.)
10.DBL - Female / 14 & 15 (Junior High - 3rd.)
11.DBL - Male / 14 & 14 (Junior High - 3rd.)
12.DBL - Male / 14 & 15 (Junior High - 3rd.)
13.DBL - Male / 12& 14(Junior High - 1st. & 3rd.)

Please let me know if you are interested in hosting students from Takayama, Japan in August.
