Message to Marching Band Parents from Don Emmons

Dear LHS "Lion Pride" Marching Band Families,

I have several information items that I need everyone to be aware of:

1.  Our next Band Camp for all Band students is this next week beginning on Tuesday, June 17 and running through Thursday, June 19th.  Band Camp begins at 1pm and goes until 8:30pm.  We will also be collecting our next installment of Band Fees during this week.  Please make checks payable to ENCORE.

2.  We have our first LHS "Lion Pride" Band parent meeting on Monday evening, June 16th at 7pm in the Bandroom at Littleton High School.  All Band Parents are invited and encouraged to come to this meeting.  The meeting will cover items relevant to this year's LHS Marching Band and how our Band Parents can specifically be involved.  The meeting will last from 7 - 8:15pm.  Hope to see you all there.

3.  We will have Drums Along The Rockies  tickets available to pick-up and payment during this week as well.  If you ordered tickets, you will need to pay to pick them up, if you did not pre-order tickets, I will sell any extra tickets that we have and will be able to make a second order at the end of the week.

4.  The 2nd "Lion Pride" Band carwash of Summer 2014 takes place on Saturday, June 21st in the Main Front (West) parking lot at Littleton High School.  Please send out emails, tweets, texts, phone calls, smoke-signals to everyone you know to let them know about this incredible opportunity to have a clean car and to support LHS Band students.  Thanks again to Jim Elliott and the use of his company car wash equipment for these car washes.  Also, a huge thank you to all of the Band Parents who assisted at the last car wash to enable it to run so smoothly and efficiently.

5.  We will be taking sign-ups to host students from Takayama, Japan here with us from Friday afternoon, August 8th to Monday morning August 11th.  We need 15 families who would be willing to host 2 students that weekend.  We have activities planned for Friday evening, Saturday during the day and Sunday afternoon/evening.  You are essentially providing a home-stay experience for these students from Japan.  This is also a fundraiser for the LHS "Lion Pride" Marching Band.  Please let Mr. Emmons know if you are able to help by hosting 2 Japanese high school students this weekend in August.

6.  We have also been asked to help host 50 female Junior High School students coming from Japan at the end of July.  This is an opportunity to raise funds for individual student accounts, especially those of you who are planning to join us in Littleton, Massachusetts in September.  These students are here from July 21st to August 1st and are here to participate in an English study program in Denver.  Host families would need to be able to drop their students off for their English program each morning, Monday through Friday, pick them up each afternoon around 5pm and have them over the one weekend of July 26 and 27.  Each host family will be paid $440 for taking care of these students.  This opportunity is also for any of our LHS Band Alumni to host students and receive these monies as well.  Here is the information from Yoshi Nakasone, President of MEM Travel, the Denver Travel company agency that is making arrangements for these students and this program.

"Dear Don-san,

Thank you for calling today.

As I talked over the phone, please ask about the possibility.
