If you went to Germany Spring Break 2014, please read this!

German high schoolers coming to visit LHS!

Did your student have the great fortune to enjoy last year's spring break performance trip to Germany?  Would like to help welcome the visiting students from the high school cultural exchange from that trip?

Just before our spring break, on March 16 through 19, 2015, 39 high school students and 4 directors from the Verden, Germany high school instrumental and choir groups will be visiting our school. These are the students who performed a memorable band/choir/orchestra concert in their beautiful Dom Cathedral last spring break along with our performing arts students.

The Verden community was exceptionally warm in hosting us last year, with lots of good cheer and homemade goodies. We would like to return the favor and show them a real warm LHS welcome also.  If you would like to join in, there are several opportunities:

-          Attend the welcome and tour on Monday, March 16 at 4 p.m. in the LHS theater.

-          Attend the free concert given by the Verden instrumental/choir students, along with some LHS performers, at the LHS theater on Wednesday, March 18 at 7 p.m.

-          Visit with our German guests when they attend our instrumental concert Tuesday, March 17, and our choir concert Thursday, March 19. Both are free, start at 7 p.m. and are held in the LHS theater.

-          Contribute baked goods to a farewell reception for the German students and their LHS host families to be held in the LHS cafeteria after the LHS choir concert on Thursday, March 19.  (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d45adaa28a7fe3-lhsperforming)

10% of all proceeds from the two hour period will go to support our marching band!

Chick-fil-A offers some great healthy options including their tasty salads, Grilled Chicken Cool Wrap and Grilled Nuggets.  Check out the complete menu here:
A refrigerator-friendly reminder flyer is attached!

P.S. The operator of the Southglenn Chick-fil-A is extremely generous and would consider doing a monthly fundraising night for us if we are able to support it.  Please come out and support the marching band and please tell your friends to come, too!

Fw: LHS Hosting of Verden, Germany Students

Dear LHS Music Department Parents,

Thank you so much to all of you who have responded to our request to host the students who are coming to Littleton from Verden, Germany.  The students will arrive on Monday, March 16th at 4pm.  Our students will welcome them, our 9th hour Jazz Ensemble will perform and our students will also give them a tour of the school.  We will then have a dinner beginning at 5:30pm in the Cafeteria at LHS.

I will need an accurate final count of how many people from each host family will be coming to dinner by Thursday, March 12th.

Finally, we are still in need of 1 host family for one more male student and 3 host family homes for the three adults (Michael Sporing, Band Director, Bernd Kleeman, Choir Director, and their female chaperone, 21-year old, assistant director).  If any of you would be able to host one of these people, it would be greatly appreciated to give them a host family experience here in Littleton, Colorado for their U.S. performance trip.  The adults coming on this trip will follow the same schedule as the students.  They will be at Littleton High School each day from 7:00am until 9:00pm, we will take care of the adults each day for lunch and dinner.

Thank you again for all of your help and support and I hope to hear from some of you soon to assist us with these final housing requests.

Also, please let everyone know that the Choir and Band performance groups will be performing their concert, along with the LHS Choir and Band, on Wednesday evening, March 18th at 7pm.

Thank you,

Don Emmons, Instrumental Music Director
Littleton High School
