Dear LHS "Lion Pride" Marching Band Parents,

I sincerely regret to inform you that I have made the decision to cancel our participation in the Parade of Lights this year.  We have made a good faith effort through a variety of indoor and outdoor rehearsals to make this parade work.  However, with a parade time temperatures scheduled for this evening and tomorrow, I have made the decision that I would be putting our students in an unsafe performance environment.  Therefore we will not be performing in the Parade of Lights this evening and tomorrow. We have struggled to keep valves from freezing during the daytime rehearsals, and it will only be much worse at night.  There are also real concerns regarding frostbite and exposure at these temperatures.

I want you all to know how much I appreciate all of the effort and work that our Band parents (especially Carrie McNealy) put into making the banner, lighting and decorating the capes and making our band look great.  I was so looking forward to seeing our band in full assembly for this performance.  We will certainly work towards being able to perform in a holiday parade next year.

Thank you again for all of your support and assistance with this endeavor.  I am looking forward to our concert on Tuesday evening on stage in the LHS Theater at 7pm.

I hope that this message reaches you quickly and efficiently.

Thank you again for your support of the LHS Band Program.
